Online sports shoe firm named on list of fastest growing UK companies
THE boss of a Bradford district firm says he is delighted they have been named on a national list of the fastest growing businesses in the UK.
SportsShoes.com, based in Jubilee Way, Shipley, has been ranked in 30th place in the Investec Mid-Market 100 list.
This list measures the most dynamic UK businesses in the mid-market sector, those reporting an annual turnover of between £10m and £200m million.
Company performance is assessed using compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in turnover over four years.
B Sporting Limited, the holding company name of SportsShoes.com, is listed with a latest turnover of £33,474,551 and a CAGR of 45 per cent.
The firm, founded by Bradford City legend Bruce Bannister, is the leading specialist and fitness retailer in the UK and stocks more than 9,000 products.
It now focuses entirely on online sales after closing its centre centre shop on Hall Ings, Bradford, which was opened by Bruce in 1982.
They sell running shoes and clothing to customers in 100 countries.
Brett Bannister, SportsShoes.com managing director, says the Investec listing is good recognition for his 125-strong staff's hard work.
He said: "We are delighted to be included.
"We are not in business to be on lists but it's nice to get some recognition.
"It is also good to see that a Bradford-based business is competing on a national scale.
"Hopefully this shows that we are doing the right things and businesses from around here are doing well.
"We are very proud to be a Bradford-based business. There has been some growth on our turnover of £33.4 million as well.
"We have grown considerably over the last three to five years. This means the good news has continued for us.
"Business is about keeping your customers happy. That's the most important thing.
"We are constantly looking for additional space and to take on additional staff."
SportsShoes.com stocks a wide range of branded footwear, clothing and accessories aimed at serious sports and keep fit enthusiasts.
There were seven other Yorkshire-based firms to make the Investec list including Cars 2 Limited, Victoria Plum, Concept Recruitment Group Limited and Poundworld Retail Limited.
Yorkshire's eight businesses on the list is more than Wales and Scotland combined, who have seven.
The list has been compiled by specialist bank Investec and business data provider DueDil. The analysis was conducted in March this year.
This is the summer update of the Mid-Market 100 list, following the inaugural biannual report in November last year.
This latest listing comes just six months after SportsShoes.com was ranked in 100th place on the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 league table. This was after it reported a 45 per cent growth over the previous three years.
