Tong Garden centre in Tong village near Bradford was completely rebuilt after a serious fire in 2000. The 17 acre site now has a covered sales area of 110,000 sq ft and parking for 700 vehicles.
Owner, Ron Harker, has sold the business he has owned since 1984 including the freehold.
The new owners are two East Yorkshire businessmen, Tom Megginson and Mark Farnsworth, who own several other businesses including a farm shop, Williams Farm Kitchen in Hornsea.
They claim that Tong has the potential to become one of the North’s leading destination garden centres and say exciting plans will be unveiled shortly including a new website.
The sale was arranged by Jonathan Holmes, of Ernest Wilson.
